Responsive website screenshot tool

Take responsive website screenshots at real viewport widths.

Take responsive website screenshots in Chrome at desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile or custom viewport sizes. Capture changes the page viewport before taking the screenshot, so your website's actual responsive CSS can react instead of simply stretching or shrinking an image.

How responsive capture works

Change the viewport first. Capture second.

Responsive screenshots should reflect the website layout at the selected width. Capture temporarily opens the source page at the requested viewport, waits for the responsive layout, then uses the existing capture pipeline.

1

Choose Responsive Device

Select Responsive Device as your capture mode. Capture remembers your preferred mode until you change it.

2

Select a real viewport size

Choose Desktop, Laptop, Tablet or Mobile. Pro users can enter a custom width and height for a specific breakpoint.

3

Let the website reflow

The page is rendered at the requested viewport so CSS media queries and responsive layout rules can respond before capture.

4

Capture the visible area or full page

Use the same high-quality capture pipeline after the responsive layout has been established.

5

Annotate, compare and report

Document broken layouts, spacing issues and responsive bugs using annotations, before/after comparisons and review reports.

Viewport presets

Review the layouts your visitors actually see.

Current responsive tools commonly organize testing around mobile, tablet, laptop and desktop widths. Capture adds those same practical viewport categories directly to the screenshot workflow, with a custom-size option for exact breakpoint testing.

Mobile

Capture narrow responsive layouts such as 390 × 844 and review stacked navigation, cards, forms and CTAs.

Tablet

Check intermediate layouts where desktop grids often collapse and spacing or navigation can behave differently.

Laptop

Review common smaller-desktop widths without relying only on a large external monitor.

Desktop & Custom

Capture wide layouts or enter exact viewport dimensions when you need to reproduce a specific responsive breakpoint.

Responsive design review

Find layout problems before your users do.

A website can look perfect at one width and still break at another. Responsive screenshots create a visual record that makes those differences easier to review, explain and fix.

NAV

Navigation & menus

Check when desktop navigation collapses, whether mobile menus fit properly, and whether fixed headers cover content.

GRID

Cards & grids

Review column changes, card wrapping, inconsistent heights and unexpected gaps around breakpoint transitions.

TXT

Text & readability

Spot oversized headings, awkward line breaks, clipped labels and content that becomes difficult to scan on smaller screens.

CTA

Buttons & forms

Verify CTAs remain visible, tap targets are clear, forms fit the viewport and controls do not overlap.

QA

QA bug reports

Capture the exact viewport that reproduces a responsive bug and mark the issue directly on the screenshot.

CLI

Client approvals

Show desktop, tablet and mobile states clearly during website review without asking a client to resize their own browser.

Your responsive screenshots stay on your computer.

Normal responsive capture, full-page stitching, annotation, comparison and local editing are designed to happen on your device. Your screenshot image does not need to be uploaded to RATdeck just to test or review responsive layouts. Account and subscription information is handled separately.

More than a responsive preview

Capture the responsive layout and finish the review in one workflow.

Many responsive tools focus only on previewing screen sizes. Capture connects viewport testing with full-page screenshots, annotation, privacy, comparison and professional reporting.

Mobile website screenshots

Test the mobile layout from desktop Chrome without pretending the screenshot was simply resized.

Responsive viewport, not image scaling

Scaling down a desktop screenshot does not show what a responsive website does at a mobile breakpoint. Navigation, columns, typography, image positions and controls may all change when the viewport becomes narrower.

Capture's responsive workflow changes the page viewport before the screenshot is taken so CSS media queries can respond to the selected width.

Important limitation

This is responsive viewport testing in desktop Chrome. It does not claim to reproduce every hardware, browser-engine, touch, operating-system or mobile user-agent behavior of a physical phone.

For visual responsive QA and screenshot documentation, viewport-based capture is fast and useful. For device-specific interaction bugs, final testing on the real target device is still appropriate.

Responsive screenshot FAQ

Questions about capturing websites at different screen sizes.

Can I take a mobile website screenshot from desktop Chrome?+

Yes. Choose Responsive Device and select the Mobile preset. Capture opens the page at that viewport width before taking the screenshot so the responsive layout can render.

Does Capture emulate a real iPhone or Android phone?+

Capture reproduces responsive viewport dimensions in desktop Chrome. It is designed for visual responsive testing and screenshots, not full hardware, browser-engine, touch or mobile user-agent emulation.

Can I capture an entire mobile webpage, not just the visible part?+

Yes. Responsive capture can work with the full-page capture pipeline so the website can be captured beyond the visible viewport at the chosen responsive width.

Can I use a custom viewport width?+

Yes. Custom viewport dimensions are part of the Pro responsive workflow for reproducing exact breakpoints or client device dimensions.

Will responsive screenshots be uploaded somewhere?+

Normal capture, stitching and editing are designed to happen locally on your computer. Screenshot image content does not need to be uploaded to RATdeck for these workflows. Account and subscription communication is separate.

Can I compare a responsive screenshot before and after a fix?+

Yes. Pro includes Before / After comparison and visual difference detection to help review layout changes after development work.
